A rabbi came under a severe attack from several youngsters who were screaming anti semitic slogans including “s*** Jew”, look according to a statement released by police in Germany.
The 39-year-old Chabad rabbi was attacked by a group of young people in the German city of Offenbach, near Frankfurt.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gurewitz was attacked at the KOMM shopping mall by a group of six to eight youths, who pushed him while shouting “s*** Jew”.
A local police spokesperson said that a criminal complaint had been filed and police had probable cause to investigate the incident as an anti-Semitic hate crime.
State security officials are also investigating the incident.
The men also ran after Gurewitz while he was trying to escape from the scene. The rabbi was eventually rescued by his friend.
Gurewitz had tried to take pictures of his attackers with his cell phone.
The attackers later said that they had not directed their “s*** Jew” comment at the rabbi, and rather called one of their own a “s*** Jew” for being stingy.
Security personnel at the mall intervened and asked Gurewitz to delete the photos.
The rabbi also complained that Jewish children are being attacked in the city every day.
