The owner of a popular Kosher restaurant on Queen Mary says he is offering up a reward to anyone who can get those responsible for a firebombing at his business behind bars.
Ouri Ohayon is the owner of Chops Resto Bar. On Saturday night, just past midnight, a Molotov cocktail was launched through the window and two suspects were seen running off. There were about thirty people inside the restaurant at the time. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
“This should be treated as an attempted murder,” he says,. “there were people inside and anyone could have been hurt.”
This is the second time the restaurant is targeted by arsonists. The first attempt happened last October.
Ohayon says enough is enough and wants to get to the bottom of this incident once and for all.
“This why I am offering a reward of up to $20,000,” he tells CJAD news, “to get these criminals arrested because this is unacceptable what has been going on.”
There have been other firebombings at Kosher restaurants and cafes during the past week, but Ohayon does not want to jump to conclusions on why that may be.
“I don’t believe it’s anti-Semitism,” says Ohayon, “although it is always a possibility.”
Police are investigating.
